How to Import Outlook.pst file?

To import the Outlook data file, you first have to launch the Outlook on your new computer. Once the MS Outlook is up and running, follow the below-mentioned steps based on the Outlook version you are using.

Outlook 2007:

  1. Open the Outlook and on the top ribbon, click ‘File’.
  2. Select ‘Import and Export’. This will start the Wizard.

Outlook 2010:

  1. Open the Outlook and on the top ribbon, click ‘File’.
  2. Now, select ‘Open’, then ‘Import’. This will start the wizard.

Outlook 2013 and 2016:

  1. Open the Outlook and on the top ribbon, click ‘File’.
  2. Now, select Open & Export’, then ‘Import/Export’. This will start the Wizard.

From here, the process is the same for all versions of Outlook.

  • In the Import and Export Wizard, select ‘Import from another program or File’ and click ‘Next’.
  • Choose ‘Outlook Data File (.pst)’ and click ‘Next’.
  • Now, click Browse, select the .pst file you want to import and click Next. Don’t worry about the other options since you are importing the entire .pst file into a new and fresh Outlook.
  • In the next window, it will ask you what items to import. Just stick to the default option if you want everything to be imported and click on ‘Finish’.

This will start importing all the contents of the .pst file. Once done, the progress will close and you’ll have all your Outlook data imported.
